The speech that I decided to cover within my blog is a speech given by Megan Kamerick entitled “Women should represent women in media” To begin with Megan started off by describing herself as an idealist, which she defined as a person who loves unearthing good stories especially the untold ones, but she explained that she didn’t think that in 2011 women would still be a story that was untold.   The compelling and relevant local news event that I discovered involves a Bossier teacher that saved a student’s life. On February 14th, a substitute teacher jumped into the role of hero by saving a student life who was choking. Substitute teacher Jordan Jones went into Bossier Elementary School thinking that his Tuesday would be like any other normal Tuesday. However, all this changed when he found himself in the lunchroom and one of the students began to choke. Jones, who is also a coach at the school quickly intervened in the situation by using his knowledge of CPR to perform the Heimlich Maneuver. Jones wanted to make sure that he remained calm during the situation so that he could keep a level head. Jones wanted to show the students that anyone including them could make an impact on someone’s life. At the age of eight he was made the lead singer of the group that he was apart of. In 1978, he was able to play in his first movie and from there a year later, he would go on to create his first big solo album entitled Off the Wall.
