 The compelling and relevant local news event that I discovered involves a Bossier teacher that saved a student’s life. On February 14th, a substitute teacher jumped into the role of hero by saving a student life who was choking. Substitute teacher Jordan Jones went into Bossier Elementary School thinking that his Tuesday would be like any other normal Tuesday. However, all this changed when he found himself in the lunchroom and one of the students began to choke. Jones, who is also a coach at the school quickly intervened in the situation by using his knowledge of CPR to perform the Heimlich Maneuver. Jones wanted to make sure that he remained calm during the situation so that he could keep a level head. Jones wanted to show the students that anyone including them could make an impact on someone’s life. He went on to say that he hoped that someone else would have done the same thing that he did if it had been someone such as his son that was choking. Coach jones has indeed left an impact on the lives of the students at Bossier Elementary School, and they now honor his achievement by deeming him with the official title “Coach Hero”.
